We have done a few projects before now, but this service project will always be extra special to us! This was our first as an official non profit. Woohoo!! After months of trying to get all the correct official documents submitted and getting registered with the state and federal government, we are officially filed as an actual 501(c)(3). We will always remember this incredible lady as our first official service project as SOAK. She will always hold a very special place in all our hearts!
She is such a sweet person and has a heart for serving those who can't advocate for themselves. I was fortunate that we had other help because then I could have some good conversations with her and get to know her. She was in need of someone to help her move out of her place into a new apartment and we were excited to jump in and help her out. While she was able to move the majority of items herself, she needed the big items moved so that she could start her next chapter in her new place. We were able to meet a practical need of hers while learning about her story.
And a plus for me was that I was able to walk this adorable German Shepard pup that she was pet sitting! I think we could all agree though that the best part was getting to minister to and pray over her. We find ourselves talking about her whenever we drive past her new place!
